Their wedding Fatiha which held on friday at Al-Noor Mosque in WuseII, Abuja at about 1:45pm was witnessed by Former President of Nigeria Gen. Muhammad Buhari, FCT Minister Arch Ibrahim Bunu, Dr. Bashir Gwandu, Hon. Dr. Almajiri Geidam, Former Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Nasuru Mantu, Gen. Ja'afaru Isa, Col. Mohammad Fada, Hon. Mohammad Bago Umaru, Member of Yobe State House of Assembly Hon. Musa Jajami, Senator Sadiq Yar'adua, Hon. Barrister Umara Kumalia, Alhaji Adamu Chiroma and many other important dignitaries.

As part of the wedding celebration, a Wushe-Wushe night held on Thursday at the Bride's family house, a Dinner held on the day of the wedding and another Wushe-Wushe on Sunday at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

In Jahi, the team gave-out 100 treated mosquito bed nets to pregnant women and nursing mothers and over 200 children under the ages of 5 were dewormed and administered vitamin drugs. Other Items denoted by the team during the "reach-out" exercise include clothes for women and children, shoes, snacks and clean water.  The team of vibrant ladies and gentlemen did all these as a their little way of giving back to community in the FIGHT AGAINST MALARIA to mark WORLDMALARIADAY on the 27th of April.

In 9ja: Over 1.2 million UTME candidates won’t gain admission this year - FG

Ruqayyat Rufa'i, Nigeria's Education minister

Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, on Saturday, addressed journalists at the Federal Government College, Suleja, Niger State, after monitoring the examination. In her address, she lamented that The major challenge is a country like Nigeria having 1,735,720 students sitting for examination and the space available is 520,000 for federal, states, private universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

She added that:

“If one million passed, what are we going to do with the rest 500,000? We will not expand the carrying capacity without expanding the facilities.

“What are we going to do with the large number of  students out there? I feel the pain. Mr. President is very much concerned. If you have students that have passed examination and they cannot have access, you can imagine their thought in the long run.”

Prof. Ruqayyatu called on private firms and individuals to invest in tertiary education.

HBC: This means that Over a million youths will remain at home and by next year, if changes are not made, this number of candidates that will seek for admission next year will almost triple (i.e the 1m that didn't get admission this year plus fresh secondary school graduates = almost 3m)

#WonderTinz: Lady beats Up a Dubai bus driver who attempted to rape her at knife-point.

The bus driver known as K S, 21, from Pakistan, who appeared in court yesterday was charged with attempted rape, threatening to kill, assault and consuming alcohol illegally. He allegedly tried to rape a passenger at knifepoint.

The woman, an off-duty US navy sailor, knocked the knife from his grasp, broke it in two, bit his hand, wrestled him to the ground and put him in a stranglehold between her thighs.

Having beaten him into submission, she left the bus and reported the incident to her commander.

The incident happened January 19 this year.

The Lady explained to the court that she climbed aboard and sat in the back seat, but became suspicious of the route the driver was taking.

“I noticed he did not take the main road and when I asked him he told me not to worry,” she said.

About 10 minutes later, the driver pulled up in an area where a number of other buses had parked, sat next to her and tried to kiss her, prosecutors say.

When she pushed him away he pulled a knife and told her he was going to rape her, and that she must do as he said. Police arrested the driver the next day at his home.

“He was drunk at the time of arrest,” said the attending officer.

He confessed only to the alcohol charge and said he was too drunk on the night to remember what else happened.

Tests found traces of the sailor’s blood and hair on the bus.

The case was adjourned to May 1.

Huh!?! Chile Cult Burns 3-day old Baby Alive. Mom amoung those arrested.

Four alleged cult members were arrested by Chilean police   for allegedly burning a baby alive in a ritual.

Ramon Gustavo Castillo Gaete, 36, is the leader of a 12-member sect (formed in 2005) that is accused of burning a baby alive. Gustavo believed that the end of the world was near and that the three-day-old child was the antichrist.

The sect members took the baby with the consent of her mom, to a hill in the town of Colliguay near the port of Valparaiso on November 21, 2012, and was thrown into a bonfire.

The mother of the baby, 25-year-old Natalia Guerra was among those arrested.

 Miguel Ampuero, of the Police Investigative Unit said

"The baby was naked. They strapped tape around her mouth to keep her from screaming, then they placed her on a board. After calling on the spirits they threw her on the bonfire alive".

"Everyone in this sect was a professional. We have someone who was a veterinarian and who worked as a flight attendant, we have a film maker, a draftsman. Everyone has a university degree."

Ramon Gustavo Castillo Gaete, remains at large.

Police said Castillo Gaete, the ringleader, was last seen travelling to Peru to buy ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic plant that he used to control the members of the cult.

The Director General, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), John Ayoade Shamonda in a presentation of the 2013 Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) for Nigeria reported that all states in Nigeria will experience a devastating flood this year apart from Ekiti, Enugu, Katsina, Imo, Abia States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The states that will be affected are Zamfara, Yobe, Sokoto, Rivers, Taraba, Plateau, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Niger, Nasarawa, Lagos, Kwara,  Kogi, Kebbi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Gombe, Edo, Ebonyi, Delta, Cross Rivers, Benue, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Borno, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, and Adamawa.

The DG, speaking after a three-day programme on the flood outlook, organised by the NIHSA, said efforts were being geared towards ensuring that the effect was less felt in these areas.

“The PDP, therefore, urged President Jonathan to discountenance ill-founded criticisms by the opposition which were meant to distract government from delivering on its mandate.”

PRO of the NCS, Mrs. Thelma Williams, said, 

“During the inward clearance of Kenya Airways flight KQ532 from Johannesburg , in South Africa, on the April 24, 2013, about 1050 hours, one Mr Ukeja Goodluck Joseph with Nigerian passport number A04206153, upon normal routine examination with other relevant agencies, his luggage was found to contain one air soft gun zinc alloy shell G15 pistol which he claimed to have bought for his son claiming that it is not a real gun.

“The passenger and the air soft gun with five sachets of pellets have been handed over to the airport police command for further investigations.”

Tragic: Sokoto Deputy Governor loses son in auto crash

Deputy governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari Thursday afternoon lost his second son, Luqman Mukthar in a fatal auto crash.

The late Luqman, 28, reportedly lost his life on his way to Sokoto from Abuja when he lost control of his vehicle on the highway.

The deceased and his friend Ghadaffi, we gathered died on the spot while only one occupant of the vehicle miraculously survived the tragic accident.

Egyptian Bride Ordered To Pay $8,000 To Former Husband For Virginity Lie

An Egyptian woman was ordered to pay her former husband approximately $8,044 for emotional damages after failing to tell him she was previously married and had surgery to restore her virginity.

During a bitter divorce, an Abu Dhabi appeals court upheld a ruling that the woman had lied to her husband about being a virgin at the time of their marriage. Previous divorce proceedings found the woman, with the help of her father, was guilty of making false statements in the couple’s marriage contract, including that she had never had sex.
The husband claims he was informed that his wife was previously married via an anonymous text message he received three years after their wedding, at which point the couple already had a child. The £5,240 ($8,044 USD) awarded to him is for emotional damages, including the shame and embarrassment brought on his family.

Boston Marathon Bombing: Police Capture Second Suspect...(PICTURES)

The 19-year-old suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, was captured last night hiding in a boat, was in a hospital with serious wounds as the FBI prepared to question him about what might have inspired and enabled the attack.

Dzhokar Tsarnaev was being treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for gunshot wounds suffered as he battled police, authorities said. His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, the other suspect, was killed as they both tried to escape the dragnet early yesterday.

Agents who brought him in were concerned about the amount of blood lost by Dzhokar Tsarnaev before he was taken into custody after an almost 24-hour manhunt that shut down Boston and surrounding cities, a federal law enforcement official said. As of early morning, he had not been questioned because of his medical condition, the official said.

Bonnie Prescott, a Beth Israel spokeswoman, declined to describe the suspect’s condition, saying the FBI had asked the hospital to withhold the information. Boston police and hospital security guards lined the main entrance.

In 9ja: Governor Rochas Okorocha Sustains Head Injury In Road Accident

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on Friday  sustained a head injury in an accident involving his convoy.

The governor’s official car had a head-on collision with a Mercedes Benz car, along the Orlu/Owerri road  when the yet to be identified driver rammed into the governor’s convoy.

Okorocha who was on a project tour before the accident  was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he was treated and discharged.

The Commissioner of Information, Mr. Chinedu Offor said that the governor’s condition was stable. “The governor’s official car had a head-on collision with a driver but he escaped with minor injuries and his condition is stable now,” he said.

According to the Commissioner, no other person in the governor’s convoy sustained injury.

Meanwhile, when our reporter visited the scene of the accident, the vehicles had been removed.

A Texan woman received a spooky surprise when she realized she'd unknowingly taken a picture of a ghost on her smart phone.

Marcella Davis of Cleveland, was trying to take a picture of her nephew outside his school when he turned away and asked her to stop snapping.

But later, when her daughter looked through the photos on her cellphone, she called her mother's attention to a ghostly apparition lurking in the background wearing a light pink Seventies style suit.

To me, it was awesome,' Ms Davis told the Houston Chronicle. 'It's not scary to me.'

A mother of two teenagers herself, Ms Davis admits she didn't know the sophisticated ins and outs of her cellphone which is why her daughter had been showing her how to zoom in on her pictures after she took them on April 15.

If you are a blogger n u ve a story on mii goin 4 bb8 den u should be ashamed of yourself professionally az always,” she tweeted.

However, the Public Relations Officer and Publicist of Mnet and AfricaMagic, Yinka Epega, told Saturday Beats that any information not issued by Multichoice or Mnet should be disregarded.

A teenage paedophile obsessed with ‘little white girls’ is facing a life sentence for molesting an 11-year-old girl while he was on probation for another sex offence.

Opemipo Jaji, 18, was under a supervision order for having child bad and had just left an appointment with the Probation Service when he followed the victim as she took a bus home from school.

The Old Bailey heard the girl was molested repeatedly over three hours and traces of her blood were found on his bag and trainers. Sentencing is due to take place on 7 June. Mr Justice Singh told the court that a life sentence was an option.

The Naira yesterday slid for a third day on slumping oil prices and production will weaken the country’s foreign exchange reserves and government finances.

The currency depreciated 0.2 per cent to 158.63 per dollar and has retreated 1.6 per cent this year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Qua Iboe and Bonny Light crude, the nation’s main export grades, both slid for a seventh day to their lowest levels since July 2012. “This implies that the government will be less able to build up reserves in the Excess Crude Account, thereby exposing the economy to a possible oil price shock.

“In addition, the oil benchmark price was increased from the previous year’s budget, while global oil prices are expected to average lower this year than in 2012,” Melissa Verreynne, an analyst at NKC Independent Economists said.

Nigeria sets a price per barrel when calculating oil revenue in the budget, and saves any money collected above that level in the Excess Crude Account to meet spending shortfalls.

President Goodluck Jonathan in February approved this year’s budget after lawmakers raised the benchmark oil price to $79 a barrel from the $75 proposed by the government.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) uses the country’s reserves to stabalise the naira, selling dollars to lenders at twice-a-week auctions.
