HAPPY EASTER TO OUR BELOVED HAKIKABLOG READER (HBR).

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

With these words, Jesus explained His main purpose for being amongst men, and fulfill it He did when He was crucified, buried, and resurrected, ascended and seated in glory. May the knowledge of the reason for this season in which we mark the remembrance of so great a show of love and victory cause all to have an understanding and experience of peace and joy.

I wish you long life, health, and wealth.

Happy Easter.

#OodTins: For Parents Murder, 'Monster Son' gets Jailed For Life.

Robert (L) Dad, Stephen Seddon (M) Son, Patricia (R) Mom.

A man who killed his parents to get his hands on a £230,000 inheritance has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 40 years.
Stephen Seddon was told he would never be paroled after being convicted of the murders of his father Robert, 68, and mother Patricia, 65 - and their attempted murders four months earlier.
They had made the 46-year-old the sole beneficiary of their estate in their will - and paid with their lives.
They had already gifted Seddon £40,000 in cash and bought him his home in Benevente Street in Seaham, Co Durham.
During the trial, prosecutor Peter Wright described Seddon as the ultimate "ungrateful son".
The convicted fraudster, who was said to have had an "insatiable thirst for cash", had tried to kill the elderly couple by driving into the Bridgewater Canal in Timperley, south Manchester, with them strapped in the back seats in a faked road accident.
Seddon then "played the hero" and boasted of his rescue attempts after he was forced to abort his murder plan when bystanders went to their aid in the submerged hired BMW.
He had taken his parents - and his disabled nephew Daniel, who also managed to get to safety - out on March 20 last year on the pretext of a surprise belated Mother's Day meal.
Undeterred, on July 4 of that year he shot his parents dead with a sawn-off shotgun at their home in Clough Avenue in Sale, Greater Manchester.
He then placed the gun on his father's lap to make it look like a murder-suicide.
Seddon had taken three shotgun cartridges with him. Police believe he also intended to kill his nephew, who he did not realise was in respite care that day.
Passing sentence for what he described as a "barbaric act", Mr Justice Hamblen, told Seddon: "In effect you have executed your own parents. You have done so by the barbaric act of shooting them at point- blank range with a sawn-off shotgun."
He added: "One can only imagine the horror of your parents' last moments in this life, when they realised what a monster their son, whom they loved, had become. Mercifully their deaths were swift."
He went on to say that, in Seddon's case, life should mean life and he ordered that he serve a whole-life term - which means the father-of-three will never be released.
Seddon had denied the shooting and said it was "ridiculous" to claim he had tried to kill his own mother and father and "sick" to suggest he had intended to murder his nephew as well.
As he was sentenced, Seddon continued to protest his innocence, shouting from the dock: "I'm an innocent man."
In a statement outside the court, the family said: "The shock of having both Pat and Bob taken from us in such horrifying and tragic circumstances has left us feeling numb.
"Pat and Bob were a kind, loving and selfless couple who will be missed by their family, friends, and especially their grandson Daniel, who they cared for with great love and affection."
Detective Superintendent Denise Worth, from Greater Manchester Police, added: "I actually find it difficult to put into words - someone who could kill and murder their own parents.
"It is hard to describe somebody prepared to do that. He portrayed himself as a devoted and loving son and told lie after lie after lie. He's just an evil, wicked man who did it all for greed."
A jury had convicted Seddon of all four counts on Wednesday after a five week trial at Manchester Crown Court.

PHE: Interesting FACTS About Banana

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!...

This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough
energy for a strenuous 90- minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.

It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions,
making it a must to add to our daily diet.

DEPRESSION:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND, amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

ANEMIA:
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

BLOOD PRESSURE:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood
pressure So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

BRAIN POWER:
200 students at a Twickenham school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

HBC: So mek una start to dey "Chop Banana Till You..."

Under the R.E.A.C.H Project, We have the Project S.E.E.K(Searching Earnestly for Education and Knowledge).  The SEEK project is education driven and aimed @ reviving our reading culture @ all levels

More About S.E.E.K
The S.E.E.K project is aimed at encouraging our students to read as there is no other path to success except by reading. It is sad that most secondary school graduates can hardly spell their names, as they opt for miracle centres. The certificates been issued are worth no more than the pieces of paper it's been printed on.

The aim of S.E.E.K is to distribute at least 20,000 copies of the book FREE OF CHARGE to secondary schools students btw SS 1 and SS 3. In a two (2) day event which will also include a workshop.

S.E.E.K took off on the 27th of March 2013 at St Joseph Secondary School Makurdi.
It was a hugely successful outing as we got a very warm reception from the Staff and Students of the school.

I spoke to the students on the importance of reading and gave them tips on how they could excel better in their academics. Mr Julius Atorough ( of the Julius Atorough Foundation) who supported the event also spoke to them on the value of hard work pledging the sum of
20000 for the overall best student
20000 for the overall best behaved student
15000 each for the best in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Economics. This would indeed serve as a great motivation to the students. We distributed copies of the book and I  prayed with them and refreshments were served.

#Ameno-tins: Kim Kardashian denies insulting Nigeria

Kim K and Darey Art-Alade during the “Love Like A Movie” concert in Lagos
There was an outrage on twitter over an alleged twitted said to have been originated from Kim Kardashian. In the said tweet, the reality television star insulted Nigeria and compared Nigerian women to apes.

The tweet reads, “Nigeria is such a disgusting country. I couldn’t wait to leave. Lol, Scott said their women look like apes and I agree.”

It should be remembered that the American came to Nigeria for Darey Art-Alade’s Love Like a Movie concert and did not spend up to two hours before she left the country.
While some Nigerians believed the tweet was fake, those who didn’t did not hesitate to dish out insults to Kim K.
The American television host took to her twitter account stating that she did not post such tweets and that is not her opinion about Nigeria.

Kim K wrote, “I see there’s a photo shopped tweet floating around, supposedly something I said about Nigeria. That was NOT me, or my feelings. That fake tweet is very disturbing & I would NEVER EVER tweet something like that.”

In 9ja: Impunity, not corruption is Nigeria`s biggest problem – Sanusi

Central Bank Governor Lamido Sanusi says culture of impunity, much  more than corruption, has hampered Nigeria`s development and promoted poverty.
Sanusi, who spoke at the 5th Bola Tinubu Colloquium in Lagos on Thursday, said the unpreparedness of the country to sanction corrupt persons had ensured the emasculation of the system.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
The  theme of the colloquium, organised to mark the 61st birthday of Tinubu was “Beyond Mergers: A National Movement for Change”
According to him, corruption is a big issue in the country today as in other parts of the world like Russia, China and others; but why are they eradicating poverty and Nigeria isn’t?

“It is not just corruption. It is the kind of failed interventions that are procured with the proceeds of corruption.
“Everyone agree that corruption is bad. It has economic cost. You take a bribe and pay subsidy to someone who hasn’t delivered the required goods. That is corruption,” he added.
“What is destroying this country is that people are corrupt and nothing is done about it,” he said.

He urged the younger generation of Nigerians to begin to position themselves for leadership, saying the youths had a big role to play in the future development of the country.
Tinubu said the problem of pervasive insecurity in the country could be solved if the Federal Government offered the olive branch to extremists in form of amnesty. He said since it was successfully used to douse tension in the Niger Delta, it could also solve the Boko Haram issue if well implemented.
Gov. Babatunde Fashola of LagosState also said it was time for the youths to begin to initiate and pursue efforts geared at repositioning the country.
Fashola said the destiny of Nigeria was in the hands of the youths, expressing the hope that sooner than later the youths would dominate the leadership of the country.

“Today, I see hope and the hope is perhaps born today. I believe that very soon youths will take over the mantle of leadership in the country,” Fashola said.

HBC: I think the money-man is right. If my RAM is still functioning correctly, Our Late Presido Umaru Musa Yar'adua (God Rest His Soul) tried to expunge impunity, immunity and the likes of it, from Nigerians system. Them no allow the man.

These are the funny parts to me OooOh! PDP youth leader is 60+ yrs abi? And with the likes of dem OBJ, Buhari & IBB (very old-timers), still working to become presidents AGAIN, I don't see the "real" youths becoming leaders mehn! No way! *smh*

Nelson Mandela ill with lung infection now better.

Madiba

Former South African President Nelson Mandela is "responding positively" to treatment after he was readmitted to a hospital overnight for a recurring lung infection.
President Jacob Zuma's office passed along the doctors' assessment of Mandela, the 94-year-old anti-apartheid icon and nation's first black president.

"He remains under treatment and observation in hospital," Zuma said Thursday.
Mandela was conscious when he was taken to the hospital just before midnight Wednesday, Zuma's office said.

It's the second time this month he has been hospitalized. More than two weeks ago, he was taken to a hospital for what officials described as a routine checkup.

Mandela has become increasingly frail over the years, and has not appeared in public since South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010.

"Doctors are attending to him, ensuring that he has the best possible expert medical treatment and comfort," Zuma's office said in an earlier statement Thursday.

"We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family, and to keep them in their thoughts."

"Madiba" is Mandela's clan name, which is widely used in the nation.

Josh Earnest, White House deputy press secretary, said President Barack Obama is being updated on Mandela's health.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the former president and his family," Earnest said.

HBC: We wish him better health and 100 more years. We hope to see the day we will love and cherish there leader the way these people love this Man.

Boko Haram have limited knowledge on Islam-Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka,  has lashed at members of Boko Haram. He said they have limited knowledge of Islam.
Speaking on Monday in Port Harcourt at the opening of this year’s Rivers State education summit, Soyinka said poor knowledge of the Quran was largely responsible for Boko Haram’s reaction to western education.
He said some of the greatest philosophies in history were Muslims, adding that there was need for members of Boko Haram to be retrained on the content of religion.

In 9ja: NPF & NSCDC Duel.

  • Police killed our men, aided vandals’ escape – NSCDC.
  • Civil defence corps attacked our men –Police.
The late officers: Gabriel Adaji and Innocent Akegbe
NSCDC the talk say...
An incident which occurred yesterday around 3am left two men dead and five others wounded (gunshot wounds), all men of the NSCDC.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, says policemen committed this hideous act.

The Deputy National PRO for the corps, Mr. Sola Odumosu, said,
“This incident occurred while the officers and men of the corps were returning from a successful anti-vandal operation where vandals were arrested along with their exhibits and being transported back to the state headquarters of the corps.
“According to an eye witness’ account, the vandals made calls to their police collaborators for support as they could not overwhelm the anti-vandals team of the corps.
“Immediately the police got wind of this, they laid siege to the corps and opened fire on the NSCDC patrol vehicles killing two, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The vandals were later released by the police.
“The men of the corps had refused to fire a single shot because they saw that the shooters were policemen. They only express shock at a sister agency who ordinarily should assist in fighting crime are the ones aiding the criminals while the vandals continue to flourish.”

Odumosu maintained that the killing was deliberate as the NSCDC men were in uniform while the vehicle they used during the operation was inscribed.

Another official said, “After the raid, the officials were driving along the expressway when they were accosted by a team of policemen. An argument ensued as one of the policemen said they had no right to operate in the area.
“The NSCDC men explained that it was their duty to protect all government facilities including oil pipelines. After some argument, our men left but unknown to them, a team of policemen had laid ambush ahead.
“The policemen opened fire on our men before fleeing and one of the policemen while trying to flee left his service pistol and identity card at the crime scene.”

The ID card made available to our correspondent belonged to one Inspector Sunday Gabriel with Force Number, 120622.

And on the Police Side...
The police, however, denied the allegations, adding that they were responding to a distress call which came from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
The authorities insisted they knew nothing about the murder of the NSCDC men.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said in a statement that while responding to a distress call from Deputy Manager, Security, Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, Mosimi that they were experiencing drop in pressure on the pipeline, the NSCDC officials attacked the police.

Braide said, “The Unit Commander in charge of Konu immediately pulled out his men under Inspector Sunday Gabriel to proceed to the scene.
“They (policemen) encountered NSCDC men on the way and an argument ensued after which the NSCDC officials attempted to arrest the policemen.
“The NSCDC men handcuffed the police team leader, Gabriel, and beat him up before fleeing with his gun and ID card.”

She said the command was therefore surprised to hear that two officials were killed.
She further alleged that hours after the incident, three policemen, Sgt Charles Igiebor, Cpl Ekun Julius and Cpl Okoro Charles, who went for National ID Card registration exercise on the premises of the NSCDC were attacked by NSCDC officials.

In 9ja: 50 Ghost Schools in Niger State

Gov. Babangida Aliyu.
Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, NIGER State governor, has raised the alarm before the weekly State Executive Council Meeting at the Government House, Minna that 50 ghost schools have been discovered on the nominal roll  in the state.

He lamented that the schools which could not be located on ground anywhere in the state, were discovered on the lists of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, and the state Ministry of Education and that they must have gulped several millions of naira on monthly basis, as they had been used to siphon money from the state coffers.

“Imagine 50 ghost schools. At least in each of the schools, there would not have been less than 10 teachers on the payroll. That would amount to 500 teachers. Imagine the salaries and allowances of ghost teachers in such ghost schools, the amount would have been monumental,” he stated.
