In 9ja: 20 Nations Issue Warnings to its Citizens Against Traveling to Nigeria.

NIGERIA’S failing security situation is causing a global sense of frustration and there is fear of possible isolation, judging from western nations’ responses to the increasing wave of terror attacks in the country.

Following significant negative media attention on an international scale, about 20 countries have advised their citizens to stay away from Nigeria, mostly due to last week’s terror attacks. Even at the United Nations, where Nigeria is currently holding the gavel as this month’s President of the Security Council, there is a sense of frustration, as four major official statements criticised the state of insecurity in Nigeria.
Specifically, the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has had to issue two statements of the four critical statements on the Nigeria terror attacks within three days. His first statement was on Monday the 14th after the Nyanya Bus station bombing, and then on Wednesday after the kidnapping of over 100 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.

In 9ja: “Military Lied About the Number Of Girls Who Escaped” – Principal Of GGS School

Based on the incident that occurred on Monday night of the abduction of 129 female students of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State by members of the terrorist group Boko Haram.

Soon afterwords, the government reported that the military has most of the kidnapped girls have been released and that only 8 of the 129 are still missing.

And now, the Principal of the school said the military and government lied. The girls are still missing.



Principal of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chibok has claimed that the rescue of 107 abducted school girls in Borno is false. The principal Asabe Kwambura said:

“There is nothing in the military statement that is true about our abducted girls. Up till now we are still waiting and praying for the safe return of the students; all I know is that we have only 14 of them, and the security people especially the Vigilante and the well meaning volunteers of Gwoza are still out searching for them. All the information passed on the media by the military concerning 107 girls is not true.”

Though the police did not confirm the car that carried the bomb, some witnesses said the driver did not die in blast, but went out of the park in a guise to look for change when the blast occurred.
The car at the scene burnt beyond recognition but the number 26AS 9730302621 was still conspicuous on the chassis. It is not clear as at press time if the suspect was anywhere near the blast, but it is certain he was out of the car at the time of the explosion.

Update: On the Nyanya Motor Park Bomb Incident. (+ Photos)

-The Cowardly act that occurred in the early hours of today at the usually crowded bus section of nyanya park happened during rush hour as commuters were about to board buses and taxis to go to work in central Abuja.

-An eyewitness said he saw more than 50 bodies being removed from the scene.

-A combined team of security agencies, staff of NEMA (National Emergency Management Agency) and fire fighters are currently retrieving bodies and putting out fire at the scene.
It is believed that one of the buses, which was parked overnight at the motor park, was loaded with the bomb that went off this morning but an an eyewitness said it is a suicide bomb attack.

-An explosion have been reported in Nyanya, a surbub between Abuja and Nasarawa State. The incident was said to have occurred this morning, at about 7:00am.
-The bomb blast occurred at the ever busy Nyanya Al Rufai bus stop.

-Several persons are reportedly kill and other severely injured.
As at the time of this report, there was serious gridlock along the expressway and security personnels and men of the Federal Road Safety Commission.

This is on account of the stock value of his largest holding, Dangote Cement, leaping about three-fourths since March when Forbes released its annual ranking of the world’s richest people.

Dangote’s 93 per cent stake in the cement company is now worth $19.5bn, according to the magazine.

In 9ja: US puts bounty of $7m on Boko Haram leader, Shekau

The United States will offer $7m (equivalent to N1.1bn) as a reward to persons with information on the whereabouts of the  leader of  militant islamist sect, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau. This gesture is part of the US's promise to help Nigeria end terrorism.  

The  $7m  is part of the $23m   posted on Monday  by the US State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme in rewards to help track down four other leaders of militant groups such as Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb spreading terror in West Africa.

Up to $5m was posted for Al-Qaeda veteran Mokhtar Belmokhtar, the one-eyed Islamist behind the devastating attack on an Algerian gas plant in January in which 37 persons,  including three Americans, were killed.
