#WowTinz: Kano Court Sentence a 63-Year-Old HIV patient to death for raping, infecting minor

-Yesterday, when an Upper Sharia court in Kano sentenced to death by stoning a 63-year-old HIV positive Ubale Saidu Dotsa for raping and infecting a minor with the deadly virus.

-Ubale Saidu Dotsa, was found guilty by the court following incontrovertible evidence tendered by the prosecution counsel for raping 12-year-old Hauwa Muhammad.

-Saidu, who has been standing trial over  the last two months for raping Hauwa, confessed to have raped her at Dotsa village in Kumbotso, a suburb of Kano, after inducement.

-According to medical report tendered by the prosecutor in court, Hauwa, a Primary 6 pupil has been inflicted with the deadly virus after the the convict forcefully penetrated her.

-Ubale is said to being living with HIV in the last two years. He  lost his first and second wives to same virus in 2011. According to record before the court, the wives died in six month interval.

-Delivering the judgment, Khadi Faruq Ahmed further ordered that N36 million be paid as compensation to the parents of Hauwa Mohammed if their daughter eventually dies.

-Khadi Farouq also directed that the judgment should  be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice which is expected to forward same to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for approval.

-It would also be recalled that a similar case occurred early this month in Barkinladi Local Governmrnt Area of Plateau state where a 70-year-old man who is also HIV positive allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl.

HBC: This is the height of irresponsibility. Maybe this will serve a warning to any rapist. So sad.
